Approaches and Techniques

There are many different approaches for the therapeutic process. I use a combination of techniques that work best for you, as a unique individual, couple, or group. In each session, I think about what works best for a particular client, at a particular moment in time, in a particular situation. Learn more about my favorite approaches below.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Re-direct Your Thoughts

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT, is a form of psychotherapy that treats problems and boosts positivity. It seeks to modify dysfunctional emotions, behaviors, and thoughts. CBT focuses on realistic solutions, encouraging Clients to challenge distorted thinking and change destructive patterns of behavior. Elements of CBT can include setting treatment goals, having a plan for each session, outside assigments, and feedback from you as the Client. Schedule an appointment with me today to help "re-train your brain" toward the positive!

Faith Development Programs

Christian Counseling

Put Your Faith Into Action

Are you a Christian Believer, but would like the added benefit of a trained professional counselor for therapy? If so, I can offer both to you, having worked in Christian Church Ministry since 2006. With a Christian Counseling approach, I use my faith, ministry experience, and professional training to incorporate elements like prayer, Scripture study, meditation, and prayer journaling, into our work together. Whether you are a consistent churchgoer, Pastor or Ministry Leader, or if you have not attended services in bit, Jesus always welcomes us back to the faith. We can seek God for guidance to discuss things like burnout, ministry growth, or even crises-of-faith. Together, we will allow Christ to be our guide along this part of your Christian journey.

Play Therapy

Play To Learn and Grow

Play Therapy is typically used with children ages 3-12. Play Therapy techniques can also be used with teens and traditional college-aged students.  Therapeutic play, such as sand tray activities, building blocks, card games, or board games, can help children with social or emotional concerns learn to communicate better, change their behavior, develop problem-solving skills, and relate to others in positive ways. Play therapy can also be used to help children with academic and social issues, learning disabilities, behavioral disorders, anxiety, grief, depression, or anger, as well as those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) or Autism Spectrum Disorder. Schedule an appointment for your child or teen today!
